There are various configurations of Central Heating boiler
Gas Central Heating systems come in different forms. Despite the different names basically these systems usually have copper pipework, radiators and a gas heating boiler.
In most parts of the UK air conditioning is hardly required because of the average temperatures of those regions. Today a good Gas Central Heating system has become a major part of every household, so much so that it is being installed in all the new houses that are being built.
Heating is vital, especially as winter is fast approaching. Heating your home provides a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. You Gas Central Heating System must give you the feeling of assurance that it is safe, simple to use with a long life.
Vented (or pumped) and Sealed heating systems are the two most common types available.
The most commonly used systems are pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. Hot water from the storage tank supplies your kitchen and bath while also heating up the radiators. The expansion tank has enough space to allow for the expanding of water as a result of heating. The expansion tank is placed at highest spot to help create water pressure. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.
For many years now, pumped/vented systems have been the norm for Central Heating.
A slightly newer, more up-to-date gas boiler that many people are choosing over a pumped/vented Gas Central Heating system is a sealed system. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. The attic has no tanks or piping, the system is completely enclosed and locked, it’s not ventilated, and that has its advantages:.
- There is no risk of pipes freezing in the attic as with older systems.
- No maintenance or repair work is required for the pipes and tank which would have been in the loft.
- The risk of leakage is cut as there are fewer pipes and the system is less complex.
- The air cannot enter the system as its sealed and hence there are lesser chances of sludge, corrosion and airlocks developing.
- Can be easily rinsed out under pressure via the main water supply.
The sealed Central Heating system is a fully packaged system with all the controls and safety devices already in place. A sealed Gas Central Heating System uses water that comes directly from the main water supply. There is no hot water tank, so water is drawn directly from the main supply.
Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. If the pressure becomes too high in a sealed Central Heating System; a safety valve will allow water to escape from the system and if the pressure drops too low a valve will open to refill the system with water.
Central Heating systems are a great way to keep your house warm, also they don’t cost you as much as the other systems would. They also provide you with complete control which is much more than other heating systems can say about themselves.
