The rewards and drawbacks of the contrasting heating gas boiler forms
Different types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. Almost all these systems have a central heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to radiators.
In most parts of the UK air conditioning is hardly needed because of the average temperatures of those regions. In fact, a decent heating system is a necessity in these regions, and due to this, a majority of new houses have a Central Heating system.
As autumn fades and chilly winds begin to blow, homeowners turn to their Gas Central Heating for warmth and comfort. A heated home has a comfortable and enjoyable feel to it. So you want to be sure that your Gas Central Heating System is dependable. Additionally, your central heating system should also be safe, user-friendly and durable.
Two kinds of Central Heating Systems are mainly in use; pumped/vented and sealed systems.
Pumped/vented systems are the most common. A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System has a feed and expansion tank. Your radiators are heated and your water is stored in a hot water tank. Water expands when heated; this expansion is accommodated in a feed-expansion tank. The tank is placed in the highest place, normally the attic area. It heats the house and doubles as the water supply.
Most houses, especially the old ones will have a vented/pumped heating system.
A slightly newer, more up-to-date boiler that many people are choosing over a pumped/vented Gas Central Heating system is a sealed system. As the name suggests, sealed system is a closed system; no tank is required in this system. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.
- Frozen attic pipes are no longer a problem.
- There won’t be any repair work on the tank or pipes which will be in the attic for a pumped/vented system.
- The risk of leaks is decreased.
- The air cannot enter the system as its sealed and hence there are lesser chances of sludge, corrosion and air locks developing.
- If necessary, the system can be flushed out under pressure using the main water supply.
Such a Sealed Central Heating System is installed with all the required gauges, controls and safeguards. The mains water supplies the water required for the sealed Gas Central Heating system. It is plumbed straight into the main water supply.
The system also has a pressure vessel which contains compressed gas, it controls the variations in pressure and a diaphragm is used to separate it from the sealed system. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.
Gas Central Heating Systems are a worthwhile investment as they have the lowest cost of performance when compared with other types of heating. Their ease of operation and versatility is much better than other types of heating.
